MORLEY LIONS CANCEL THEIR 1940's NIGHT

Morley Lions News

Morley and District Lions have unfortunately been forced to CANCEL their upcoming 1940's Night.

Morley Town Hall had been set to host the event on Saturday, June 25th with vintage performer Kitty La Mare and The Ashby Little Big Band on hand to entertain.

Organisers said that not enough tickets had been sold to cover the costs of holding the event.

It had been hoped to raise money for the Lions District Ukraine Appeal which has so far raised over £95,000 and despite tickets being on sale for a few weeks both online and through Althams Travel in Morley, the interest hasn’t been enough to make the event worthwhile.

A spokesman for Morley & District Lions said: “Sadly we've had to cancel the 1940’s Night Fundraiser which was due to take place in June at Morley Town Hall.

“Firstly, we would like to apologise to those people that were prepared to support us by purchasing tickets for this event but despite the general interest being positive it did not look like we would sell enough tickets to cover our costs, let alone generate a surplus for our proposed Ukraine Appeal.

“I would also like to apologise to the event partners and thank them for being willing to work with us by providing their services.

“It’s a real shame, a lot of work had already gone in to this but ultimately we had no choice but to cancel."

Those who have purchased tickets are asked to contact the place they purchased their ticket from to arrange a full refund, alternatively buyers can contact Morley & District Lions Club for more advice.
