We are always looking to welcome new Lions to our pride and become part of the Morley & District Lions Club family!

If you are interested in joining our Club and helping make a difference to your local community, we would love to hear from you, We have answered some of the frequent questions/concerns that we all had before we joined the largest service club organisation in the world.

Do I need to be a 'Professional Person' to become a Lion?

NO! Absolutely not, we each come from various backgrounds, we have members which are retired, members which work in senior positions in a full time role, part time workers and people with caring responsibilities. As long as you share our ethos of wanting to help then that is all we are interested in!

Do I need to have any special qualifications or be part of a professional membership organisation?

No, As long as you care about others and are interested in making a difference that is all that is important to us.

Why do people become Lions?

Members join for many reasons, some are experienced fundraisers, some are looking for friendships, whilst others want to 'give something back' to their local area through volunteering their time and skills to those in need. It doesn't matter what your motivation is as long as you are prepared to work together with fellow Lions.

I want to help but I do have a busy life which means I may not always be able to commit, Is this a problem?

No, There is no mandatory requirement to attend meetings and events and accept that work and family commitments will always come first. We acknowledge that that sometimes due to circumstances outside of our control we may not be able to invest the time we would like.

I want to meet new people, Should I join?

Yes! This is a great reason to join your local Lions Club and be part of a network of 1.4 million people around the globe. Local Club members are friends and we look out for each other and often have friends and acquaintances across the districts and throughout the UK. We meet once a month for our regular meetings and also attend events throughout the year together.

Is there a cost?

Yes, our members make a Gift Aid donation to the club either monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually to cover administering Lions Clubs International. In this way, we can ensure that every penny donated by the public goes directly to the intended cause without deduction. Currently, the cost is less than one cup of Starbucks coffee a week!

Can I join and leave at any time?

Yes, Although all our Lions are long term members we do not set a minimum term which means you are free to leave the club and cancel your membership at any time.

We now have a question to ask you...

Do you want to make a difference and have fun?
