£92,578 RAISED FOR UKRAINE

Morley Lions News

Lions clubs from across Yorkshire, the North East of England and Scotland have been fundraising for Ukraine.

The Morley and District Lions Club have come together with other clubs from across Scotland and North East England to support the District Appeal in aid of our fellow Lions in Ukraine and their wider communities and have so far raised an incredible £92,578.

The monies raised will be forwarded on to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and then on to our fellow Lions in Poland and in other countries surrounding Ukraine to spend as they feel appropriate to help relieve the awful suffering that is taking place.

Morley Lions Club Secretary, Dan Frank, said "100 percent of donations received by Morley and District Lions and other Lions clubs will be used in support of Ukrainian refugees. We don't use any funds donated to cover administration costs which means that every penny will be distributed to the Lions Clubs located in the countries and areas where there is the greatest need.

“Through fellow Lions clubs we are able to direct funds straight to the crisis areas so that they can then be used to buy whatever is most needed, in the quickest possible time, without delay"

In addition to making a donation from club funds, the Morley and District Lions are organising a 1940's Night which will take place at Morley Town Hall on Saturday 25th June. The evening, which will include entertainment from vintage performer, Kitty LaMare and The Ashby 'Little' Big Band, a Pie and Pea Supper and Prize Raffle will give people of South Leeds the opportunity to stand in solidarity and show their support to the people of Ukraine.

Tickets are available to purchase from Althams Travel, Queen Street, Morley and also online through our Eventbrite page, for more information see: https://www.morleyanddistrictlions.org/events
