1940's Night

Morley & District Lions are fundraising for our Ukraine Appeal

THE Morley & District Lions 1940’s Night has been cancelled.

Morley Town Hall had been set to host the event on Saturday, June 25th with vintage performer Kitty La Mare and The Ashby Little Big Band on hand to entertain.

Organisers said that not enough tickets had been sold to cover the costs of holding the event.

It had been hoped to raise money for the Lions District Ukraine Appeal which has so far raised over £95,000 but despite tickets being on sale for a number of weeks both online and through Althams Travel in Morley the interest hasn’t been enough to make the event worthwhile.

A spokesman for Morley & District Lions said: “Sadly we've had to cancel the proposed 1940’s Night Fundraiser which was due to take place in June at Morley Town Hall.

“The general interest for the event has been low and it did not look like we would sell enough tickets to cover our costs, let alone generate a surplus for our proposed Ukraine Appeal.

“I would like to thank those that offered their services and those who were prepared to support this event.

“It’s a real shame”

Those who have purchased tickets are asked to contact the place they purchased their ticket from to arrange a full refund, alternatively buyers can contact Morley & District Lions Club for more advice:
