Who we are
Clive Barwell
Clive is an independent financial adviser living in Morley. He has been a Lion for 7 years and is Treasurer at our club.

'As a child, my Father, who was an Electrical Engineer, volunteered for Talking Books, something he did for over 50-years, and my Mother, who was a Primary School Teacher, did a lot of after-hours tuition, particularly for children with learning difficulties. Consequently, I was brought up with an ethos that it is our duty to give back to the community.
'Throughout my 24-year career with Lloyds Bank, I was an active Trade Unionist, supporting others in grievance and disciplinary matters, especially during the period 1981 to 1984, when I was the National Convener for the Banking Insurance and Finance Union.

Treasurer
'After leaving the Bank, I joined a local Rotary Club, where I served for 17-years, including spells as Secretary, Treasurer and President. However, I became disillusioned and left to join Morley & District Lions Club in the autumn of 2013. I’ve since served as President and Treasurer; in the latter role, instrumental in converting the Club from being unincorporated to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, a fully-fledged regulated community charity. Beyond the Club, I have been a Zone Chairman, co-ordinating the activities of the Lions Clubs throughout the Leeds post code area, a District Governor, supporting all the Lions Clubs in Yorkshire and am now the District Membership Officer.
I’m married to Patsy and we have four children, five Grandsons and a Border Collie. Outside of family, Lions and my day-job, as a specialist Later Life Financial Planner, I don’t have time for any other hobbies or pastimes.'
